Back in the days when Germany was divided, a huge wall separated East and West Berlin. One day, some people in East Berlin took a truck load of garbage and dumped it on the West Berlin side. There was a great deal of animosity between the people of Germany.
The people of West Berlin could have done the same thing and given them tooth for tooth and created more animosity between two blocks which was part of the main Germany itself. They did not think like East Berlin. Instead they took a truck load of canned goods, bread, milk and other provisions which would be required by the people of East Berlin. They wanted to lend a hand of giving help and kindness. They took all the stuff out from their truck and neatly stacked it on the East Berlin side.
On top of this stack they placed the sign:
‘EACH GIVES WHAT HE HAS’
How very true and words of perfection. You can only give what you have. If you think very stingily and selfishly about yourself you will give it very miserly and not want to share with the society and if you think that the Lord has been so thankful to you and he has given you the best, why not share it with others and make others happy and joyful.
What do you have inside of you? Is it hate or love, violence or peace, death or life, capacity to build or capacity to destroy? What have you acquired over the years? Would you like to give back and lead a peaceful life as no one has come to live it? All have to one day go away and leave everything here as there is nothing to take with us. Come empty handed go empty handed.
EACH GIVES WHAT HE HAS. The waters of a river are for the use of the populace. The containers the people bring to fill with water are large or small according to their needs. So give generously and do not bother about anything. All are taken care of, none are excluded.
Beautiful post.

Yes and you must have known what enmity there was between East and West Germany. Thanks Yagnesh for your valuable feedback.

Sorry, I do not agree with you. The enmity was enforced by the hardcore communists of East Germany. Everyone feared the dreaded Volkspolizei. I have personally known quite a few East Germans who would have gladly crossed over if they could.

Okay would not know anything about Germany was not born during those times, Yagnesh. You know best and thanks for letting me know too.

No hard feelings, dear. The story that you have told is also absolutely true……but you can perhaps imagine who must have been behind the garbage truck!

No no I can totally agree with your words, Yagnesh and yes can so imagine. But actually the story is telling us how to be kind to people even if they slander you. Pl. do not feel bad I am very happy to hear from you.

Yes, the moral of your story is taken. I only wanted to clear the misunderstanding regarding any perceived hatred between the East and West Germans as such. The communist rulers of East were simply ruthless.

Another fabulous post. No eye for eye, no tooth for tooth, but sheer kindness, cause that is what breaks barriers and breaks a potential vicious cycle.
Great story as always. A pleasure to read as always.

A beautiful inspirational story with a great lesson in kindness and generosity. Is time for as to let go of the old “an eye for an eye” and learn to live in peace with each other. Vengeance, hatred and bigotry bring more of the same. Kindness, love and compassion can change the world, and we have great examples in humanity that came to teach us exactly this lesson: Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, and the list goes on. Let us follow their examples, and act from our hearts to bring about the world and the positive change we want to see! Thank you dear Kamal for the inspiration! ❤
