An apt Title ‘Recognize Your True Value‘ and an apt story:
A little boy went to his old grandpa, one day and asked him: ‘What’s the value of life?’ The grandpa gave him one STONE and said, “Find out the value of this stone, but don’t sell it.” The boy took the stone to a Fruit seller who was selling different kinds of fruits. He liked to eat guavas and asked him what its cost would be. The fruit seller saw the shiny stone and said, ‘You can take 12 guavas and give me the stone’. The boy apologized and said that his grandpa had asked him not to sell it.
He went ahead and found a vegetable seller. ‘What could be the value of this stone?’ he asked the vegetable seller. The seller saw the shiny stone and said, ‘Take one sack of potatoes and give me the stone.’ The boy again apologized and said he can’t sell it. Further ahead, he went into a jewelry shop and asked the value of the stone. The jeweler saw the stone under a lens and said, ‘I’ll give you 1 million for this stone.’ When the boy shook his head, the jeweler said, ‘Alright, alright, take 2/24 karat gold necklaces, but give me the stone.’ The boy explained that he can’t sell the stone.
Further ahead, the boy saw a precious stone’s shop and asked the seller the value of this stone. When the precious stone’s seller saw the big ruby, he lay down a red cloth and put the ruby on it. Then he walked in circles around the ruby and bent down and touched his head in front of the ruby. ‘From where did you bring this priceless ruby?’ He asked. ‘Even if I sell the whole world, and my life, I won’t be able to purchase this priceless stone’.
Stunned and confused, the boy returned to the grandpa and told him what had happened.:‘Now tell me what is the value of life, grandpa?’ Grandpa then made him sit next to him and said: ‘The answers you got from the Fruit Seller, the Vegetable Seller, the Jeweler and the Precious Stone’s Seller explains the value of our life……You may be a precious stone, even priceless, but people will value you only based on their financial status, their level of information, their belief in you, their motive behind entertaining you, their ambition, and their risk taking ability.
But don’t fear, you will surely find someone who will recognize your true value. Always listen to your conscious, respect and love yourself for who you are, don’t sell yourself cheap. Appreciate what you have and remember at all times, that You are unique in Yourself and no one can ever replace you. Value the good life and value your worth.’
it’s a beautiful…n inspirational too…If that boy had taken that guavas he would never know the value of that priceless stone… So we shouldn’t analyze our worth according to other’s perceptive. Great story. Thanks for saring 🙂

Thanks Lavanya for your great words and yes if he had given it to anyone then he would have not known what value the stone had. Yes so true why must we analyze ourselves on others but see what we are worth and live the way we want to on our terms. Thanks again. Have a lovely day.

Absolutely correct people will value us according to their sense of knowledge, financial status and their thoughts but we all are unique in one or the other way that’s what we need to learn and value our existence but life is merely a precious jewel we need not to make it an ordinary stone. A great read and an excellent lesson. Loved it👍✌♥♥♥❤♥

We all are unique. For some we can be priceless but for some we can be nothing(zero). It’s us in our eyes we have to make ourselves worthy and respected. If we value ourselves we can do anything. Everyone’s perspective is different but what really matters is your perspective about yourself. Very well interpreted which makes this story more likeable to read.😇 I loved it and it is pleasure every time reading your posts.. Ma’am 😀

If we care and love ourselves we can make, to some extent, others feel the same. If we are positive we emit positivity making our surroundings positive and if there is a doubt even 1℅ that can matter.. is it not??
Lovely post

This really is a food for thought. The fruit sellers could only tell the boy the worth of the stone based on their own limits. We really should learn to view life without using other people’s lenses.

Kamal! This is a beautiful story for any young to mould and formulate is/her life.
Some conclusions are there in life which are told through stories and they have their own implied meanings. The Old man was intelligent enough to tell the young boy in the form of a story. There are instances when you tell directly what value life is they tend to not take it seriously.
Thanks
