The World Is Mine……..

cit cit cit: forgive me when i whine

A Profound Poem but the Author is Unknown:

Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman

And wished I were as beautiful as her.

When suddenly she rose to leave,

I saw her hobble down the aisle.

She had one leg and used a crutch.

But as she passed, she passed a smile

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine

I have two legs; the world is mine

I stopped to buy some candy.

The lad who sold it had such charm.

I talked with him, he seemed so glad.

If I were late, it’d do no harm.

And as I left, he said to me,

“I thank you; you have been so kind.

It’s nice to talk with folks like you.

You see, he said, “I’m blind”.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.

I have two eyes; the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,

I saw a child I knew.

He stood and watched the others play,

But he did not know what to do.

I stopped a moment and then I said,

Why don’t you join them dear?”

He looked ahead without a word.

I forgot; he could not hear.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine

I have two ears; the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I’d go,

With eyes to see the sunset’s glow,

With ears to hear what I’d know,

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine

I’ve been blessed indeed; the world is mine.

Hope this poem makes all of feel thankful and grateful in life. There are so many people who are less fortunate than us. Let us show them the gift of love and kindness. It never comes empty. May God bless us with all His joy and happiness to each and everyone of his children.

  2. Kamal, we have so much to be grateful for! You brought a powerful point home, which is you NEVER know what truly is in a person’s life so to be “envious” of that person, is never smart. Loved this!! Thank you! xo

      1. Today I had the honor of photographing disabled children, and I thought what are we really complaining about often needless things. My heart goes out to all the people who are really suffering, actually they are the ones who do not complain much.

  4. A delightful poem, Kamal. I can imagine that any affliction on top of coping with the grind and demands of everyday life is really hard. People do seem to manage though, but I am glad I don’t have to learn to cope with more. Hugs.
