As We Grow Older…………..

older-wiser.png

  • As we grow Older, and Wiser, we slowly but surely realize that many things lose their value in life. We are not in any mad rush to own anything and everything that we see.
  • Whether we wear a $700 or $50 watch does not matter. The feel or the texture may be very different but time is time and they both tell the same time.

 –     Whether we carry a $300 or $30 wallet/handbag, the amount of money inside is the same. May be it may differ a lot but the wad of notes is the same. There is no difference.

 –    Whether we drink a bottle of $500 or $30 wine of the best quality, or wine that is kept in the cellar for many years and may be the packaging may come with aesthetic designs, the hang over is always going to feel the same.

–     Whether the house we live in is 10,000 or 700 sq. ft., with all the modern amenities like swimming pool, a tennis court, open lawns and palatial rooms, if you live in it on your own with no one to share it, loneliness is the same. It slowly destroys you.

 –    Whether we eat in a fine dining restaurant that costs $400 or eat at a roadside café costing $10, the food is all the same. It is going to settle in our system only. Too much food too will cause a number of ailments.  Wasting food is not the criteria.

You will realize, as you grow older that true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world. Whether you fly first class or economy class, if the plane goes down you go down with it.  No matter what the situation always remind yourself ‘I have a Choice’. Whether I want to own and possess everything that comes within my reach and yet remain miserable or I am totally contented with what I have been given in life.

Our days are much happier when we give people who are barely making a living, a lot of what we do not want and see the amount of overwhelming joy and smiles on their faces. We live in a beautiful World, why not make it more humane and appropriate for all to live peacefully and cheerfully.

So Live simple, stay simple and enjoy life.

  1. Wonderful post Kamal,

in the essence of material value are not the most important In this disturbed system of values. They impose to us that we had to buy better and better things, to be better. But this is not true. This is not the essence of life. The beauty of the soul is much more important than the beauty of the house…

    Thank you so much

    1. Welcome Ben for your true comments. Yes these all things are not the essence of our lives and this is not for what we have come. I absolutely agree with you and our Soul does not crave for all these things instead of being at peace and full of bliss and joy which is our true nature.

  2. Wonderful “wisdom” of perspective for young or old, Kamal — and especially needed by our politicians, here in America, at least. This quote would be beneficial to many as well:
“Live simply, so that others may simply live.”

We live in a beautiful World, why not make it more humane and appropriate for all to live peacefully and cheerfully.

  4. This is so beautiful Kamal and words as if they were written out of my own heart. You are absolutely right and it’s not the stuff but the experiences, the moments and how we feel that matters.
Really love this one and you did a beautiful job articulating the true meaning of life. Hugs 💙🦋

  5. boundlessblessingblog, I really really like your stories, it is extremely readable, and easy to follow. It is true that as human beings, we get caught up in chasing materialistic things, for the sake of one’s fulfillment and also showing to others how rich or successful you are. There is this need that as human beings, we tend to seek validation through the means of the things that we carry. You have really put a well-thought article, which summarizes the human’s need to be materialistic. :). Having this article in WordPress, is an absolute great idea :). Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insights about the topic of materialism.

    1. Thanks Duan and call me Kamal as my wordpress name sounds a little too big. We sure realize as we grow older what is important for us in our lives and of course money is required for us to have a well balanced life but over spending and leading selfish life is absolutely zero and what do we achieve by this. We do not require all these but how to lead a good life and be natural and loving towards one and all cause that is for what we are here and not for war. Thanks for your wonderful comment again, Duan.

  6. So true – – the key to happiness is being happy with what you already have. I fall prey to envy occasionally after watching too much HGTV. Then I recognize it for what it is and turn it off for a couple months! That helps.

    1. Thanks for your lovely feedback and yes for sure key to happiness lies within you but we all like to see it on the outside and then we feel miserable. So true TV is the greatest nonsense and instead there are so many other things to do and keep ourselves occupied.

  7. Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My website addresses a lot of the same topics as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you are interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Superb blog by the way!
