Some years ago, on a hot summer day in South California, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His father working in the yard saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as loudly as he could.
Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his father. It was too late. Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him first. From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the father, but the father was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably, after weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his father’s fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved. The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, ‘But have a look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Dad wouldn’t let go. He loves me a lot.’
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He has been there holding on to you. He wants to protect you and provide for you in every way. But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead.
The swimming hole of life is filled with perils and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. ‘That is when the tug-of-war begins and if you have the scars of His Love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He could not and will not ever let you go.’
He is a good good Father, thank you for this post dearest Kamal.

What a rich and wonderful story Kamal. I love the little boy’s pride and joy “that his father wouldn’t let go”.
How many times in life we heedlessly and with eagerness get ourselves in a difficult situation but still survive and come through happier. The scars could equally be from someone helping us to live – fully and with joy.

Kamal these Word Press Daily Prompt or challenges given by WP. A daily prompt is, a word is given, of which you have to write a composition or a poem or something related to that. WPC are those that of Photography or any other topic given to write. For example on wednesdays it is Photo Challenge on Thursday it is about Doors.
You can see I have created a Menu for that as Word Press Challenges in which I have entered those posts. So you get to see your posts to read by other readers through that.
I am giving the links of two of my posts for your perusal.
I am happy to tell you that my post ” Greatest Musicians and Lyricists of Bollywood” is seen by many readers on a daily basis.
https://theshivasponder.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/the-greatest-musicians-and-lyricists-of-bollywood/
Here you can see below title there is “Music” press it and you go to that WP daily prompt.
The below one is on Scars
https://theshivasponder.wordpress.com/2016/05/02/point-blank/
although my title is not on that but it is related to that. Below there on the post I have mentioned the link of Daily Prompt, you press there and you are taken there to the prompt.
What you can do is any of your present or past posts you can put them, giving the link of WP daily prompt or WPC.
For your reference you can go and check the various options given to write how they are entered.
I think by this you are done with it. Please let me know if you would want something that.
Having a nice Sunday I suppose.

Happened upon your blog and really enjoy your thought-provoking posts. As a childhood trauma survivor and a 30 year trauma therapist, I understand all too well what you write. In fact, in my autobiographical memoir called “Shattered to Shining”, I talk about the many scars (physical and emotional) that were controlling my life – robbing of me of happiness, stealing my goals, and holding me captive emotionally. As an adult I was able to look back and see how my scars cause unhealthy defense mechanisms which masked themselves as survival skills just so I could make it through. Anyway, I truly appreciate you sharing and look forward to reading more.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback and yes can so agree with what you have gone thru and scars from childhood can truly hurt and make one emotionally incapable and a wreck. But I would say you have done an awesome job with yourself and picked up from what you went thru and become a trauma therapist and helping so many people who have had similar experiences likes you and also that you have written your own autobiography. Great I salute you dear friend. Have faith in Him who knows us all and these are simply impressions that you have to wipe out from your life. Have a great day.
