A True Friend……..

a-true-friend-is-the-gratest-of-all-blessings1

I hug you, embrace you to pieces

but I am not your family

I care for you, gently caress you

but I am not your life partner

I am ready to share your pain and sorrow

But I am not your blood relation

Then who am I, who is more precious to you

I am your close companion you can’t resist

My soft voice is music to your ears

I am your one true friend

Who scolds you like a level-headed dad

Cherishes you like a sweet mom

Irritates the daylights out of you

Teases, makes you laugh to your wits end

Wherever I go, I carry this heart of joy

Loves you more than a lover could

A friend who will never leave you

So be in touch, keep me close and hold me dear

I simply love you the way you are………………

  1. Friendship turned into friendliness. Friendliness rises higher then love and reaps with thanksgiving. Giving, sharing with love, with no desire in heart of getting anything in return and the two will be blessed with the one giving and sharing is thankful to the other for receiving the abundance the other had in self.
Very beautifully written Kamal, loved it. Thank you for sharing. 🙏

      1. Yes brother when we give without expectations we are actually giving. Just like the sun shines on the Earth with no expectations to get anything in return. 🙏

  2. Hi Karmal 🙂
Wow – what a creative poem!
You do indeed have a talent in writing poetry! Pat on the back, friend!
If I was a english teacher, I could find many language techniques in it and can do a analysis or essay on it!
    Good on you Karmal!

  3. Kamal you made me remember my Dearest friend Krishna, who left me a few years back.
He used to always tell the same thing in a dialogue like structure.
“Who is this guy? A brother, a relative, a cousin or any blood relation. He is much more than all that we have. Tell me who, who, who is this guy. A friend, true friend. He is above all.”
When I had gone with his family to the river to leave his last ashes and the performing of last rites everyone had to leave water in his Name, last was me and the pujari asked his family members as to who is this, they all said he is his best friend. Oh! Said pujari -Friend! He is the one who knows every thing of him-the deceased. His performing the rite is very important. Because it is He who was always with him.
Those words made my tears flow like the river.
I still keep thinking of him always. There are two best friends of mine the other’sname is Suresh, who have left me here all alone. I am sorry Kamal I am getting tears in my eyes.
Such is the bond between friends and you have brought it down through your words here. I feel you do have such a Good True Friend.
Lucky are those to have them.
Sorry for having been bit emotional.

    1. Shiva: You are so tender-hearted, of course you had to share something so close to that heart after Kamal’s most beautiful post. I don’t believe you need apologize for being open to emotion. So many people would be better off if they followed your example. I am sorry for your loss.

Kamal: this is such a loving tribute to the value of true friendship. You have warmed me as I sit housebound, wrapped in a robe on a drizzly winter day, still recovering from my recent cold. Thank you.

      1. Thanks so much dear Madelyn and first and foremost take utmost care of yourself and be as chirpy as ever, take proper medication too. Shiva is so tender hearted and sometimes when you have close friends and they depart it really brings back memories. That is life. I loved the way you gave your heartfelt beautiful comments to A True Friend and yes the poem turned out so beautifully even I could not believe was this my work. Our Lord is our True Friend who will never ever leave even if the whole world does so it was a tribute to my God, Madelyn. Thanks once again and happy recovery as fast as possible. Stay blessed.

    1. Oh Shiva I did not know that after reading the poem you will be remembering your sweet friends who have left you, but friends are like that they are more than family and it is so nice to nourish them and tell them all your secrets. Feel sympathetic towards you friend and yes tears do come when you remember what you two had. I too have a True Friend and that is my Lord and Master and His name is Meher Baba who has said that all will leave you and go away but I am the only True Friend who is more than your breath and more than A True Friend ever can so why not make me your constant companion, so for me My Baba is all Friend, family etc. Thanks Shiva for your words felt touched and happy day to you.

      1. O Kamal after reading your this post I couldn’t resist and the net was coming and going till midnight I tried to post my comment several times but it was not getting posted so I kept it pending just like that and again posted it in the morning and it got posted, after to see that it has posted in the night itself.

You have told me about Meher Babaji, your guru.
I will tell you Guru is more than anyone in this World, like a True Friend what we are discussing True Guru is very difficult to find and blessed are those who shall have one.

      2. Shiva I loved your words and they were so awesome but let me share a small secret with you dear friend. He is found by everyone and anyone cause he is one of us. God wants us to Love Him and he is waiting when more people realize that there is nothing but Him who this body and mind belong to. He is not someone only few find Shiva it is our endeavour to find Him and he is there in our midst. My inspirations are all coming from Him and don’t worry it is completely k. Happy day to you Shiva and stay always blessed in his bliss.

      3. While I was replying to you I was disturbed a lot in between. I mean I had to attend to so many calls and had to attend to some office work. I wanted to tell something more but in the midst it got posted.
I definitely agree what you said Kamal. It is like the Air we take inside out. He is available all the time. But who realise that it is there shall find him. So very simple yet so far from thought. It is He who has spread his hands to embrace 24/7 but where are those who want to and can embrace Him. Many want him for money and other materialistic things. So poor thing he gives them and they are satisfied. That ends the matter.
So a True Guru is always wanting and is in search of a good disciple – Vice Versa.
I can go on writing which could be a post again.
        Enough for now.
        Have a nice Day
        Xoxo
