A store owner was fastening a sign-board above his door that read Puppies for Sale. These signs have a way of attracting children. Soon a little boy appeared at the sign-board and asked: “How much are you going to sell those puppies for?” The store owner replied, “Anywhere from $35-$55”. The little boy reached into his pocket and pulled out some change. “I have $3.50; can I look at them?” The store owner smiled and whistled!
Out of the kennel came a lovely dog named Lassie, running down the aisle of his store followed by her five little puppies. One puppy was lagging considerably behind. Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging, limping puppy. He asked: “What’s wrong with that little dog?” The man explained that when the puppy was born, the vet said that this puppy had a bad hip socket and would limp for the rest of his life! The little boy got really excited and said: “That’s the puppy I want to buy!”
The man replied, “No! You don’t want to buy that little dog. If you really want him, I’ll just give him to you without any charges.” The little boy got very upset. He looked straight into the man’s eyes and said: “I don’t want you to give him to me. He is worth every bit as much as the other dogs and I’ll pay the full price. In fact, I will give you $3.50 now and 55 cents every month until I have paid all the money for him!” The man countered: “You really don’t want to buy this puppy son. He is never going to be able to run, jump and play like other puppies.”
The little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace. He looked up at the man and said: “Well, I don’t run so well myself and the little puppy will need someone who understands him.” The man was now biting his bottom lip and feeling ashamed of himself. Tears welled up in his eyes. He smiled and said: “Son, I hope and pray that each and every one of these puppies will have an owner as benevolent and compassionate as you”.
In life, it doesn’t matter who you are, but whether someone appreciates you for what you are, accepts you and loves you completely for who you are. A real friend is one who walks with you, besides you and holds your hand when the rest of the world walks away.
Would you like to be of help to someone somewhere who is in great need of wanting to be cared for and loved.
I agree. At times, simple things like a kind gesture, a smile, an understanding nod is all it takes to make another happy and bring him out of his misery.

Yes Meenakshi and why not. They say even one person can change the world or the environment or the family so we too can do so isn’t it and there are so many people out there who are great volunteers and do a valuable work in society. Thanks Meenakshi for giving such valuable feedback too. You know I have started writing on this site known as http://www.fagnum.com/blog/a-man-named-sage/ It would be lovely if you could also write your poems on this site and have a look at what I too have written. But there is one catch that once we write on this site we cannot copy from wordpress what posts we are writing, it has to be purely new ones and we cannot post those articles anywhere except facebook or any other social media but not wordpress. Have a look Meenakshi and they also give prizes as some kind of monetary benefit.

This is a lovely story boundlessblessings. It is thought-provoking and a very good lesson to make sure we value everyone and not only those who don’t have flaws or disabilities. We all need love and attention especially those less fortunate than ourselves.
